Community Development

Breaking Silos, Building Connections

At the GMSC, community development means more than just supporting local initiatives—it’s about creating strong, connected networks that amplify impact across our region.

By breaking down silos between non-profits, businesses, government, and citizens, we promote collaboration that leads to more inclusive, resilient communities. Our approach focuses on supporting the people and organizations doing the work, not duplicating their services. Instead, we build the bridges that make partnerships possible.

Through tools like the OPT4 Framework, we guide coordinated efforts, help align community priorities, and provide strategies that make collaboration easier and more effective.

Our Goals:

  • Create meaningful networking opportunities that bring together representatives from the four key sectors—non-profit organizations, businesses, all levels of government, and community members—to share knowledge, align efforts, and build trust.
  • Develop regional plans that provide a clear path forward, ensuring local networks work toward shared goals and measurable outcomes.
  • Encourage and support a collaborative movement that boosts community capacity, strengthens local leadership, and ensures the long-term success of initiatives through continuity and connection.
  • Lead asset mapping initiatives to identify the strengths, services, and resources already within our communities, laying the groundwork for more strategic, community-led development.

Together, we’re building a foundation for long-term growth, resilience, and collective success.
